About KEC

Katoomba Easter Convention is a 4-day annual retreat for all ages to spend Easter sitting under God’s Word and growing in your faith together. With programs for toddlers all the way up to adults, it is a fantastic way to spend Easter as a family or with friends.

KEC is run by Katoomba Christian Convention (KCC) and has been running every Easter since 1962.

KEC is for everyone! We encourage everyone to bring friends, family, children and grandchildren – we have specific programs for everyone from toddlers all the way up to adults.

KEC runs from Good Friday morning to midday Monday, with both morning and evening sessions. Afternoons are free, perfect for you to enjoy catching up with friends and family over the long weekend. Enjoy 11 life-changing Bible talks across the weekend, interspersed with morning tea and evening snack breaks, listen to personal testimonies and worship in song with over 1500 Christians. During the breaks, you’ll also have exposure to other Christian organisations and ministries you can support.

Our fantastic children’s programs run every morning from Friday to Monday, for children from 2 years of age to Year 12. We encourage Junior and Senior High students to join in the Adult program in the evening. There are no children’s programs run in the evening.

Venue and Transport

KEC is held on our Convention site in Katoomba. The address is 119 Cliff Drive, Katoomba NSW 2780.

StayKCC is 110km west of Sydney at Katoomba. It is accessible by car (along the M4) or by train to Katoomba Station and a short taxi ride to the site.

During KEC, we provide free shuttles buses in the morning, with 5 pick up points around Katoomba to transport people to our convention site. Return buses will also run at the conclusion of the morning session. There are no shuttle buses in the evening.

Visit our Venue page or download our StayKCC Getting Here sheet for more information on how to get to the convention site and information about our free shuttle buses.

Upon arrival, park your car on the Oval Car Park (Corner Cliff Drive and Violet Street, access is via Cliff Drive, opposite Scenic World). We ask that you do not park on local streets around KCC (there will be ‘no parking’ signs around) or in the Scenic World car park. When you arrive at the Oval Car Park, there will be staff and volunteers to help direct you to the main program in the Auditorium or where to go for children’s programs.

For those with mobility issues, we provide a mobility shuttle service which drops delegates off directly in the Plaza. For more information about accessibility, see the accessibility section of the FAQs.

Children and Youth

Our KEC Children’s and Youth Programs take place on our Convention site or at Katoomba High School. We offer the following Children’s and Youth Programs at KEC:

Keenites (25-36 months) – StayKCC, Clairvaux Cinema

Pre-School (3 years to school age) – StayKCC, Clairvaux Classrooms

Infants (School Years K – 2) – StayKCC, Clairvaux Classrooms

Primary (School Years 3 – 6) – Offsite, Katoomba High School

Junior High (School Years 7 – 10) – Offsite, Katoomba High School

Senior High (School Years 11 & 12) – StayKCC, Kedumba Dining Room

For parents with children under 2 years, there will be a Parents and Bubs facility close to the main auditorium. The space will include lounges and live auditorium feed, nappy changing facilities, microwave, kettle, and a large kids play area. Parents using this space are responsible for the care of their children and children must not be left unattended.

The Children’s and Youth Programs run concurrent with the main Adult Program. All programs run during the morning session only and finish at 12:15PM. There are no evening Children’s and Youth Programs. Children are welcome to attend the evening session with their parents. Junior and Senior High kids are especially encouraged to join their parents in the evening.

Our fantastic, specialty Children’s and Youth programs offer opportunities for children to fuel their love and understanding of Christ no matter their age. Here is a brief overview of what each age groups can expect at KEC:

Toddlers: Toys, playtime, music and snacks to keep your toddler entertained.

Preschoolers and Infants: Fun and engaging activities including crafts, games and singing songs.

Primary: Drama, music and puppetry, as well as small groups and opportunities to learn memory verses.

Junior and Senior High: Bible talks, group discussions, listening to testimonies, and learning about resources to help grow in their faith. Junior and Senior High get to also enjoy Pizza on the Plaza – an option, fun, Sunday night for students in this program to enjoy dinner with their program leaders and friends before joining the Adult program.

Take a look at our 2024 Children’s and Youth Highlights Video for a sneak peek on what your child can expect at their program.

For children in the younger programs, consider bringing a bag with a hat, drink bottle and spare clothes – all labelled with their name. As part of the program, children may be doing craft activities and playing outside, so consider sending them in clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Children in the High School programs should consider bringing a Bible, notebook and pen.

For all programs, Children and Youth are provided with morning tea, so please do not pack extra food for your child as some children may be severely allergic to certain foods.

Yes, at the time of registration, you will need to specify any requirements and health issues your child may have or experience.

Once you complete this on your registration, you will also need to complete a health care plan so we can better serve your child during KEC. Regardless of how mild or severe the allergy or health issue is, it is essential for you to complete a health care plan.
